Hey, it's the other guys' loss that they didn't accept you into their band. Some people have egos and the thinking that if your gear doesn't cost as much as a car, then you can't play. I don't care if you have a no name guitar/bass that's pink with stickers all over it, if you can play is all that matters. For the most part, playing bass is relatively easy. All we gotta do is thump out the root note and it sounds good.

The new American Standard basses are very sweet.
Is that J-bass of yours Olympic white?

I've just calculated how much i've spent to date on all the bass gear i have (ive also converted it into dollars for your ease).

$4,505.09

Years ago i would never have dreamed of spending that much on anything. I hope the guys who said no to me being in their band are reading this so it shows proof that no matter the expense, i will make myself broke to keep my passion in music alive.

Rant over.

You know, I actually spend less money now on gear than I used to when I was single (I know, people with kids here will know why). It doesn't matter. I'm afraid to calulate it...

Im still young and single. I'm sure the time will come when the spending stops. :D What's the Squier VM Jazz Bass like? I'm thinking of getting one for my main back up.

Ugh, spend it while you can my friend... :D I like it a lot, for what it is, you can't complain, under $300. I've added the BadAss II to it. I was going to put EMG HZ on it, but the bass sounds good the way it is. I'm not big on pickguards, so I took mine off, gaping mid pup hole and all. I've added Fender top hat knobs from my '87 too. I'd probably will change the tuners, I like the Fender/Schaller tuners. I'll ck if it fits or not. Sound wise, the Duncan Designed sounds good, it's set up to sound like a '70s bass, and it does. I'm lucky with mine. Some don't like how theirs sound, I do. I can't believe how good these Squiers are nowadays - Crafted in Indonesia none-the-less - I bought another one. My 5 stringer is a Squier, active pickups for under $300. It's no EMG, but is sounds really good.

Yeah Squier's are looking and sounding good these days. 10 times better than they were 8 years ago when i started. I was thinking of getting it for recording and stage back up use, you know different tones and the like. I'm thinking of fitting Seymour Duncan Vintage pups.

Heres my Jazz Bass, a Fender American Standard Jazz Bass in Blizzard Pearl with a Maple Neck. I need to get some Schaller Strap Locks on them and also, can anyone recommend a way to make my bass look better, like a different pickguard or something?

Not very good pics though!

Nice bass, I always like the Blizzard Pearl...Pearloid or tort pg seems to be the choice of upgrades for most basses. I like it with out one myself, but that's me...Welcome to the forum(s).
