I'm looking to buy another Jazz. I dislike pickguards, for a number of reasons - few of them rational. Therefore, I'm hoping to find one where there are no extra body routes (like the round hole on the treble side or the larger-than-necessary neck pickup route). Trouble is, all of the Jazzes in stores still have the pick guard on them, and you need to be about redy to buy before you ask the staff to remove the guard so you can look.
What series should I be looking for?

The Classic Series 60's Jazz has no body routes....and is a nice bass too! Also I have a 2006 Highway One Jazz that has no routes. So I would think the newer ones would be the same.

FYI, I think the Hwy One is the best value Fender makes. I have no reason why one would spend the extra money on an Am Standard. The Hwy One sports a BadAss bridge, same support rods as the Am Standard and I love that nitro finish too. Mine also is a only 8.1 lbs! Almost as light as my Sadowsky basses.

Hey Thanks for the advice.
I'd better scoot down to The Bass Centre for an AB test now.
Much obliged
