Well I bought my son a MIM Jazz today and he's loving it. The only issue we have with it is the frets on the ends are sharp and actually annoying. Anybody else have this problem on an MIM and if so any good recommendations for a remedy?
Thanks

Yours is a VERY common problem known as, "fret sprout". It is caused by the neck and the fingerboard shrinking over time (which is normal) where naturally, the frets stay the same size as when the fingerboard was first made. The fret ends have to be ground down and polished off. If your bass is new, it is a warranty covered issue. Bring it back to the place you bought it from or if that is impractical, to another authorized Fender service facility. Either way, verify to your satisfaction that the tech(s) there are of sufficient competency to solve your problem because in spite of what one would presume, all facilities do NOT have personnel equal to the task. Or, you might even be able to simply exchange the bass for one without fret sprout, even up. Good luck.
