I just purchased a Geddy Lee Jazz bass for my HS Jazz Band.

I was surprised that there was no documentation, warranty cards, shoulder strap or 1/4" plug. Should some/all of these items have been in the shipment?

If you bought it new from a dealer, you should have gotten all the docs and warranty, and a gig bag.

I'd go back immediately to the @sshat that sold you that and demand the strap cord warranty information and registration card etc..

As I said, there is NO strap or cord included with the Geddy lee jazz, just the gig bag. However, if it's a new bass, he definitely should have gotten the warranty and docs. (and a gig bag, if he didn't get that either)

There should be , including the aforementioned gig bag, a warranty card, registration card, (they may be on a card together, I forget) generic Fender instruction manual, and an "inspected by" tag with the serial number printed on it. Again, if it's a new bass.
MAYBE a Fender bumper sticker, that one I'm not sure of, one did come with my Am. Std. Jazz, don't know if that comes with other models.
Just for comparison, the American Standard Jazz comes with all the paperwork mentioned, an SKB hardshell case, strap, cord, and polishing cloth.
