If Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 is worthy of having his own Jazz Bass line, i think Tim Commerford of Rage against the machine/Audioslave is, too.
mark had the j bass body with the precision neck and seymour duncan quater pound precision pickups. Commerford, in my opinion, had a much more interesting setup. he had a Jazz Bass with precision necks, a maplewood neck with block inlays, hand wired pickups, and badass II bridges. i also think that commerford was a more major part of RATM than mark is in blink becuase of ratm's funk/rap style. and in my opinion, ratm is more succesful and better as a band. dont get me wrong, blink is amazing, but i cannot get enough rage into my life. I really hope fender looks into tim commerford

Except for the maple fingerboard, the bass you're describing is basically the Reggie Hamilton model, except Reggie's has more features.

Isn't Tim playing Lakland basses now?

I get tired of all of the signature basses and guitars.
Why not just make basses with a few optional features and not worry about naming them after artists?

I guess Fender sells more by naming the models but I liked it when you just ordered a Jazz bass with a maple neck and you automatically got black or white block inlays.
Who cares who plays what?

Just make kick but basses!

The BA ridge is over rated. I like the new Fender American made bass bridge better anyway.

lately I've seen Tim using Laklands or Jazz basses with P necks..

well going to sound like an artist would be that hard esp the set up and everything plus they'd sound different in a live set and a recording set.. sometimes they'd use different basses/gears to record and for live..

If you are trying to sound like a particular bassplayer by playing the same model bass or a "signature" bass model, I think you are kidding yourself.

You will always sound like you and that is a good thing!

Develop yourself as a player with knowledge and technique gained from studying music and getting tips or lessons from good players.

Don't worry so much about the model bass you play.

Just about any Fender bass will do the job.

Have fun with your bass!
