Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a std jzz (vol, vol, tone) knobs to dual concentric, and if so is it possible to wire it to have vol, balance, tone, tone instead of vol,tone/vol,tone ?

What you are referring to are "stacked" control knobs. Sure, anything is possible.

You might want to check out the Audere drop-in preamps that replace the standard control panel on a Jazz. I added the JZ3 - it comes in several different stacked configurations, but not quite what you posted. Mine is, from closest to furthest from the center of the body:

Volume; mid stacked over pickup balance, treble stacked over bass.

These bass/mid/treble knobs are better than a simple tone knob in my book. Lastly, there is a three-way toggle that goes from deep bass to normal to crispy high-end; great for dynamic changes and soloing.

Of course, it's a bit pricey (around $150), but it has expanded the tonal capabilities of this bass to no end. I love it. NOTE: The Audere makes your bass active and requires a battery.

They look great, but i just wanted the look of the dual "stack knob"
and a "balance" rather than 2 x volume controls
