Post subject: Neck Shapes of 60s & 70s

Regarding C & U shaped necks...I've always read that C necks were from the 60s & U necks are the 70s...I there any overlap among these? Was 1970 the beginning of the U shape? Or did they overlap either way...'69 U shape or '70 C shape.

Neck shapes are hard to pin down to any decade.

As far as I know, the necks were sized as A,B or C necks and what that meant was somewhat up to the guy doing the final shape of the neck.

There are definite trends in neck shapes. The classic A width neck in a Jazz bass is the most common shape on this model and it can be found on Jazz basses of any age.

As far as C shapes and U shapes go, the descriptions are subjective and you may have a very different idea as to what a U shape is as compared to me or anyone else.
