Hello Fender community! I'm new on the forum and this is my first post here.
I own a 1995 mexican Jazz Bass ( the model with the whole plastic pickguard, at least it used to be like that ). The problem is that the trussrod adjustment nut, which uses a hex star wrench as opposed to the more common hex wrench, has become seriously chewed up. In fact, it is impossible to make even the slightest adjustment, the wrench just hasn't got any grip at all. I don't have the money, nor the means to buy a replacement neck, and I really need to sort out this issue  Therefore, I'm asking:
How can I safely remove the old non-functional adjustment nut?
Which one of these replacement nuts is compatible as a replacement?

Here are a couple of photos. Don't mind the broken nut, I already got a replacement :D The damage isn't visible from there, but just to give an idea of the location of the adjustment nut. :)
