Most are, but the Jeff Berlin model does not have a horn.

Sure, Jeff prefers this way.

The Mini CMD 151P is the same amp with an horn...

In my opinion the Mini CMD151P isn't quite the same thing as the Berlin with an added horn, other than the power section they are completely different cab designs. The power specs are the same because they both use the same Mini-Mark II amp section, but the Berlin model's cab is larger & taller with up front controls which I like. The Mini's controls are on the top back since it is a much shorter amp. The Mini series is small and super light which is a good feature too.

The MarkBass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 combo has a real horn and front controls ala the Berlin 15 inch model. Maybe they will come out with one in 15 inch with a horn, but I'm sure it wouldn't have the Berlin signature on it.

Markbass amps are quite nice, and they might be what you're looking for. What I like best about them is that they are warm but still maintain the integrity of the bass's tone. There are a lot of "warm" amps that color the bass's output too much, but the markbass really hold's true to the bass. Their little mark line is fantastic, as well as their combo amps.

I don't use combo's if that's what your looking at but I believe the Ampeg Ba15 uses a horn, SWR's use horns, Hartke and GK probably have combo's with horns. These guys are talking about Markbass, I'm sure their cabs come with horns but to me, IMO I am not crazy about MarkBass cabs, their heads are great (IMO) I love their littlemark II or III heads, portable, powerful, good tone; I use mine with an Ampeg 410HFL (has 4 X10 in speakers and a horn) and I also have a Schroeder 212L cab (2X12 in speakers with a horn) with the MarkBass. I like different cabs that are somewhat portable /powerful with a portable powerful head but that's only my personal preference and this stuff is expensive. If you're on a budget and looking to build a rig, test the stuff out, find out what you like, then if you cannot afford new, look at GC on line "used" anywhere in the US they'll usually ship it to you and not charge more than $50 or so for the shipping,. you can still save hundreds off new and they will not sell junk. they won't buy it if it's junk. again, my personal opinion only. what feels/ sounds good to you is what matters.

They basically bring out the highs. In most cases, if you don't have a horn switch or control on the amp, turn the treble down a bit and add more bass.

i understand now... well usually i have my bass on flat 5.. then treble to 3 or 4 and mids on 6 or 7..

as everyone has already stated. Go to a music store that carries a wide range of amps such as guitar center and just demo a few. I currently am a gigging bass player and use a galien krueger backline for gigging medium venues and I use a peavy 400 watt for band practice and a peavy basic 40 for home practice and love the sound from all. I have used my basic 40 for gigging small venues ad even a few outdoor events (being miked). Each one has a different unique sound. I play everything from old country such as Johnny cash to modern metal Tool and sublime. I really depends on your sound preference. Good luck my friend best advice- guitar center and demo each and adjust settings also to see where your sound is.

Hey Dude,
These are the things you should look for in your quest.
Amps: Ampeg- SVT, SVT 3 0r 2 Pro, used and in good condition.
GK - 800RB, 400RB, used and in good condition, the 400's can be turned up more at master volume knob. Use the boost to give the output stage alittle punch. The Ampeg's are tube amps. The GK's are solid state. Pick your poison.
These amps are completely different animals! but I can tell you from 30 years of proffesional experiance that they will work night after night. They are both quite and loud amps. Meaning, they sound good to great at nearly any volume level. When they are very low they seem to lose punch. Most amps do.

Cabinets: Ampeg 410 HLF PRO 800/1200 watt version, SVT 810 cabinet American models- used and in good condition. The 810 is big and cumbersome but if that is no trouble for you then get it and fix your head. The 410 is smaller and easied to handel. They both have wheels!
Hartke Original 410's. These cabinet represent the 80's Rock Bass tone. They are expensive to repair but have a highly recorded sound as do the Ampeg 810's.
Both company's 410's can be stacked and stacked. This is a plus for configuring needs for the venue.

Start with a 410 cab and an SVT 3 PRO or GK 400RB. You can look up from there. Peace Lenny M/F Round
