Does anyone know if flea's bass is recorded direct, or is his amp miced?

Not sure, but usually what sounds really good is going straight in, although micing it up in a very acousticized place could prove to sound awesome as well, so it's hard to differentiate >_<

Blood Suger sounds like its the amp mic'ed and Stadium Arcadium im pretty sure is DI. I prefer micing the speaker, It sounds more natural and I dont have any problem getting a clear sound.

You actually can do both simultaneously. DI on one track, microphone on the other and then BLEND both channels or solo either one to get the best sound. If you don't have a pretty awesome DI preamp you probably aren't going to be as happy with the result as your favorite recording bassist through his DI. Experimentation is good.

Yeah I know about blending but with the mixer I cannot record them onto seperate tracks, both signals would just be one track. I've tried this before but I get all kinds of phasing problems and I don't really have the patience to get it right! :D
