i see... 64's are slightly thinner even though they have the same radius?
i understand that "neck feel" is important and well by thinner you mean a lot comfortable especially like i do have smaller hands..

Radius usually refers to the radius of the frets and top of the fingerboard. So vintage radius is 7.25 and modern is 9.5. Neck shape has to do with the back of the neck, and is usually described as "C" or "U", though two necks that are "C" shaped can still be different.

I have played the 62 RI and the neck feels like a normal jazz bass neck shape. I have never played a CS 64 so I can't speak for that one.

FYI Musicians Friends has a CS 64 in Olympic White with CS overwound 60 pickups. Its their Closed Closet series, which means it has very minimal relicing, so from afar you probably wouldn't be able to tell it was reliced, but up close you might notice some. This model is not made anymore but Musicians Friends must still have some in stock.

My hands are also smaller. I started on a brand new '74 Precision that my mom paid $300.00 for to my band director. He told me that he wanted my hands to get used to the wider neck. I went into the military and started making my own money and bought a Jazz. My fingers were relieved.

sounds like your mom has the same view of jaco's, like that video about modern bass he uses precision bass neck on his jazz to stretch.. which almost lead me to do that as well... but from now, i'd play the jazz for ease in fast passages and thumping , and plays a p during smoother runs and most rock stuff.

whoa musiciansfriend still have those in stock?

those are like way back in 2005?
