I e-mailed them on last Saturday from the L.Q. web sight. Perhaps it is a standard generated responce.

For all body through stringing Fender basses the BADASS III was the Leo Quan bridge. It was discontinued even before the recent scarcity. It allowed body through and bridge through stringing and was a drop in replacement for the Fender American Deluxe Bass Bridge and also for the '51 Reissue and Sting P-Bass bridge.

Leo Quan STILL hasn't answered my email. I asked how to purchase a saddle height adjustment hex key for the BadAss III and they never answered me at all, automated or otherwise. Guitar Parts Resource doesn’t carry them either. (And still show OUT OF STOCK on all Leo Quan bass bridges.)

I'll never buy another Leo Quan product because of their terrible customer support. (I’m still boycotting NBC for cancelling “Star Trek” so I do hold a grudge.)

Don't lose or break your Leo Quan bridge wrenches! I tried every hardware store, every auto parts store and even bought two huge complete sets of metric and SAE hex keys I really did not need and NONE of them would fit. I also tried the local Snap On Tools and Mac Tools vendors. Somebody on Talk Bass gave me the size but when another Fender Forum friend found one that size and sent it to me even that one would not fit. Nobody had a wrench to fit them. And Leo Quan STILL hasn’t answered months later.

In desperation I sent an email to someone who DOES actually care about customers. If it hadn't been for David Goldenfarb at The Bass Place in Tempe, AZ who came through with the correct hex key wrench I'd just have been out of luck.

I gotta say I think there are a lot of comparable products out there besides the badass series. The badass is well known for being one of the first high mass replacement bridges, but now just about every aftermarket bridge manufacturer has an equivalent product. Now I have not done a side by side test of them and I am not familiar with such a test being out there, but I have heard very similar results from different high mass bridges. I have been very happy with the hi mass vintage bridge on my AM. standard, and if I were to want a high mass bridge on another bass, I would probably buy this over a badass (it's also cheaper and aesthetically fits better on a fender IMO).
