I have a 1993 Jazz bass plus, sunburst with maple fretboard and lace sensor pickups. I have had it since 1993 brand new. I have never had a set up done, I have done everything myself. Intonation is perfect and it never goes out of tune. I also have a MIJ 75 jazz bass with rosewood fingerboard and ash body. The pickups on the MIJ sound so much better and louder than the lace sensors. On the jazz bass plus it is passive and active. I use both but it dosen't sound good passive. I want to change the pickups but I don't know would be the best to get and I still want the active option. Would any Jazz bass pickups work?

I used to play with them when I was in college, at the music store, dreaming one day of owning one ;) I never did own one...Nice basses they were (are).

I'm not sure the active/passive would work, although I think Carvin sells active/passive pups on their site that would work with Jazz basses.

You can try cking w/BrotherDave, our bass guru here. Good luck, and post pix of both basses!!

Well here is a picture of one for sale (not mine) but mine is exactly like this. I found out that I can put in any pickups because the lace sensors are passive and just the electronics are active. I will probably go with the Custom Shop Jazz pickups.
