Brotherdave,

Sorry if you think I was off topic. Just wanted others to know there are other ways to get a decent sound without big equipment.

To answer your questions..........

Boss pedals I have as options consist of Chromatic Tuner, Limiter Enhancer, Bass Chorus and a Bass Overdrive.

I use the clean, Rock and R & B settings on the studio 110. Most of the knobs are set at about mid way except for the bass that is almost fully on. I don't usually save the settings. I can mix and match any of the pedals with the various settings on the 110.

The Mackie 402 has an instrument switch that when pressed allows direct instrument level signals from guitars or other instruments. They eliminate a need for a DI.

I have plugged bass direct to the 110 and used XLR out to mixer and then to PA and subwoofer as you suggested. It is another option.

I also use just my pedal board with the effects pedals and Mackie Mixer plugged direct into house sound for church gig.

I bought a Hartke Hydrive 4x10 cabinet with a Hartke LH500 Head (500w obviously). I got them at a discount and have been truly amazed by the quality and tone I have. It has more power then most clubs ever will need, yet when my band played outdoor concerts, it played great loud. I'd give Hartke a look through because you can find them fairly cheap at some places, good starting amp brand with a good record of customer service, and great/easy to use products.

One other thing, my speakers are part of their "Hydrive" serious, which is a new hybrid line where the speaker cones are both Aluminum and Plastic, give a great range of tone that can be used.

Theres my input.

I love the BRIT tone on the Studio 110 modeled on the Marshall Super Bass. On this model, "BRIT" is a "hidden" tone that replaces the "CLEAN" preset. Most people don't even know it is there! Here is how to activate it.
1. Turn off Amp Power.
2. PRESS and HOLD DOWN the "CLEAN" and "R&B" preset buttons.
3. Turn on the power while still holding down the "CLEAN" and "R&B" buttons.
4. When the "CLEAN" and "R&B" buttons flash back and forth you have completed the change so you can now release the buttons.

To restore to "CLEAN" just repeat the above procedure. Until you do so "BRIT" will come up when you press the "CLEAN" button.

The all tube Bassman 300 is awesome. Just really heavy like all big 300 watt tube amps. Really a remarkable amp. I want one, I just don't want to have to move it. LOL

I'm getting too old to carry the weight. It's getting to be a hassle lugging around the Mesa and 4x10. Take it from me IF YOU DON'T NEED THE WATTAGE small is good. If your not playing Big rooms your wasting energy hauling equipment. They make many outstanding smaller combos and amps that do the job. Now all I have to do is find some one who will take my Large amp and cabs and trade down to something I can shlep on stage. My back will thank me!

I am running a Geddy through an Ampeg BA115HPT. It's 220watts, but somehow manages to cut through a very loud drummer and two guitarists running 6x12 Mesa and Marshall stacks....I thought I wouldn't have enough headroom, but it seems to cut through without any issues...
