Hey guys. I just got a MIM Jazz Bass and I was going to change the pickups. My first thought was to go with Seymour Duncans as that's what I put in my P Bass, but the guy at the store was telling me about the Fender Vintage 60's Noiseless Pickups. He says they're awesome. Just wondering if anyone here has any feedback for me. Thanks in advance.

Have you ever heard either of 'em? It goes to with what you like sound wise. The Fender is nice cuz it keeps it in the Fender family, but if you like the Duncans, then go with that. Most MIM axes don't hold great value compared to the MIA guitars, so unless you're looking for value in the future, go with the Noiseless, but if you don't really care, and you like the sound better of the Duncans, go with that.

I own 2 MIA Jazz Basses and one HWone Jazz upgrade. I replaced the P/U in my main MIA bass with the vintage noiseless and love the live and recorded sound. Totally worth it. When I purchased my vintage noiseless P/U they were around $100, now they have the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless for about $150 as well. I say get either the Fender vintage noiseless or samarium cobalt, you will love the tone and want to play more, plus being noiseless are a great plus as well.

I have a '70 J Bass that has been through many changes, but one of the best things I did to it was swapping out the original PUPS fro the vintage "almost noiseless" PUPS. The noise levels are WAY down from the single coils. They have a bit less "edge" to their sound, but stil lhave the unmistakeable Fender Jazz BAss sound. I also have a 2007 Deluxe with cobalt sam's and they sound great, too.

I have the MIM deluxe active, and they are truly noiseless. However, if you play slap, you will hear a harsh clipping sound when playing harder. Play them in the deluxe active to test them out

I had a Seymour Duncan Hot Jazz Stack, in my old JP-90 bridge position, and it was pretty good, but I like the Fender Vintage Noiseless that I just installed in my MIM Jazz, a lot better. Just seems like there is more response (dynamic range), and wider frequency response. The growl is better with the Noiseless - it's just a tiny little bit less that the MIM single coils, but much better than the Duncans. The combination of the MIM Jazz, and the noiseless pickups, have made this my favorite bass yet,

Rob
