Post subject: poping sondon my jazz

hey i have a fender 2005 mex jazz my problem i love the sound when i play the blues but the way i play rock i use my fingers and they slap the strings and that causes a poping sound that i cant stand so the only wayi can stop is to remove all treble on my bass now my question befor i sell this bass is their any strings that i can usethat will not pick up the poping sound that i get when i play and allow me to have some hi"s

Welcome.

Your pickups are probably too high and when you slap the strings, the strings may in turn be hitting the pickups' polepieces, causing the unwanted noise. Try lowering your pickups before you decide to sell the bass.

iv tryed to lower the pick ups to no avail any other tips becaus i have a squier and as far as sound it blows my jazz bass out of ther water iv played it 4 timesin 5 years cant handle that poping

The only other thing I can think of off hand is it that your bridge is not grounded which means your strings are not grounded.

There is no negative wire in contact with your bridge, tying it into the electrical circuit of your bass which among other things, cuts down on the hum when you handle the bass as you play.
