Hello everyone, must say I am very pleasantly surprised by my first Fender which is a Chrome Red American Jazz with a Precision neck; I am loving the S1 switch as it really gives her the added bottom that she needs!

My other bases are essentially Status Graphite on which I use very light gauge strings.

Just curious what gauge other players would recommend on a Jazz as this will become my main jazz instrument?

Many thanks
Andre

Congrats and welcome to the Forums!! It depends on what kind of sound you like. Try 'em out. I used Mediums, .45 - .105s, stainless steel strings. Usually Fender 7350, well 7350 on all right now, except for the BG29.

I bought a special issue of Bass Player this weekend called Tone & Technology... It has a review and comment of about 140 pairs of strings and their sounds. I use Steve Harris Flatwounds(.50-.110) on my Marcu Miller Jazz Bass... How do you like the P-Bass neck..?

Well difficult to compare since this is my first Fender bass :)

Coming from the graphite world I would say the feel of the neck is rounder and the immediate sound is warmer than what I am used to on my regular amp. It's still a little early to say but I am certainly pleased!

I have put on some of my regular strings and will now spend some time adjusting it.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Hi Guys,

I have just buy a Highway One Jazz Bass, and I want to change some parts starting with the pickguard. Anyone knows if the american standard pickguard fits on the Hghway One?

Thanks in advance....
