How do you fix annoying buzzy frets??? my jazz has that problem, but only unamplified. When you play through an amp, you get only clean tone. How do you fix it???

Get the guitar set up properly. You can do this yourself or at a music store, seeing as you're asking this question (it's a good question) then I'd suggest the latter :) It could be a number of things, the main concerns here would be the action and a possible bowing of the neck.

Very simple to fix and a good set up with new strings will be relatively cheap and you'll certainly notice the difference! (as well as have no fret buzz, woo!)

If the sound is clean out of the amp...then you really don't have a problem. EVERY Jazz bass I ever played including mine will have some fret buzz if the action is set low. No getting around that.

But the important thing is as long as the buzz does not come out of the amp...then you're cool.

I saw a video clip I think on You Tube of a bass clinic with Marcus Miller. Some asked him if his Jazz bass had fret buzz. Well he turn off his volume, and sure enough HIS bass was fret buzzing all over the place! I think it is just the nature of the beast with Jazz basses.

If anyone can find me a Fender J Bass that doesn't have it, I want to hear/see it. I've played with J Basses for a long time, they always buzz. As long as it doesn't go through the amp, it's not a big deal. Or if you're in the studio, and it makes it on the recording than you have an issue, other than that, buzz away...

first, all basses and indeed all guitars can and often have fret buzz, I have a squire P-bass here that buzzes out on the 15th and 17th fret only, reguardless of how I set it up. certainly the neck shld be chk'd as well as the string height as this often corrects the problem. now if after all that you still get fret buzz, you shld consider having a tech chk it out as the fret wire themselves may need to be dressed, sometimes during manufacture you might get the odd fret wire or two that are set too high and need to be filed down, as is the case with this squire bass that I have here. I have over the years seen lots of fret buzz but have never had a problem eliminating it, hope this helps... 8)

There is no problem if you get clean tone out of an amp. Leave it alone.

i just got a fret job, and it still buzzes! oh well, the buzz is still there, btu only on the 1-5 frets, kinda weird. not at the 12 or above at all. so oh well. the clean sound is still good out of an amp.
