Hello! Your advice would be really helpfull! I am looking for my 1st. Fender bass, but I cant decide wich one is the real one. I am playing math metal, with fast rifs and tapping - so the main thing is - I need really fast/thin neck - for easy tapping and chords!!!

I have ownded Yamaha, Washburn and Ibanez.. I choosed Fender because of great design, and quality everyone is talking about.

So, those are three basses I hawe chosen.

I realy hope you all will give me a professional advice!

'cause of your metal head status I'd go for the 24 fret on the far left there - probably preferable for tapping.

As much as I hate 5 string fender's they're all lovely basses and I don't think you can go wrong. Why not pop in to a good music store and see if they have any (even if they're 4 string versions) to try out. On a personal level the one on the far right is my favourite on looks (since they're all pretty equal on tone I'd imagine [despite the middle being a mex])

You may get more of what you're looking for with the 24. I am however, partial to the traditional sunburst finish. :D

All those basses look cool to me. Is the 5th (low-B) string essential to the music you play? I am imagining that your performance speed and fluidity would improve without the extra machine head weight and neck bulk. I sold my 5-string years ago because the extra string kept getting in my way.

I play a 6 string, once you get used to it, none of the strings are in the way. If you need a 5 string get it. If you don't need it, but want it, get it! Never learn it with out having it right...

Go with the American made 5 string. Great looking bass, versatile due to being in a 5 string and great American quality. Personally, I wll never buy a Mexican or Japanese made Fender.

I own a six string too. I think it's a bit too stiff though, the neck is fat, and the C string is (in my opinion) useless.

I'm getting an American Deluxe V (hence my sn), it's a 5 string. I've used a 5 string before, so I think I would do good with it. I use the B string for low-note solos or I tune it to D to play some P.O.D. music.

Look at the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. It is by far one of the sweetest playing basses out there. The new Americans are nice as well but having the Badass ll bridge and the ultra slim neck, there is nothing better. You will be extremely happy with it. Put some DR black beauties on it and you will be set.

I gotta agree. I love mine.

Still haven't had the work I need done on the '66, so the Lee bass is my primary instrument right now.

I like the C string, when doing tap and scales - f minor from the D string you just keep goin down instead of moving toward the higher frets. It's what you prefer I guess. I didn't like the 5 string I had after the 6 string. I'm thinking of the Squier Deluxe V now, maybe I've gotten the 6 string out of my system... :D
