Just tested my Highway One up against the new standard and i've been reading in some forums that the quality is just as good as the HWY1 but after testing it. The HWY1 is definitely better, not only did it look and feel better the pickups had more output then the MIM. Anybody looking into getting a Jazz Bass go the HWY1 over the MIM you may pay more but it's certainly worth it.

im pretty sure they have the same neck, they dont make necks for electrics in the mexico factory, their shipped it in from the states. i prefer the standard because you cant get highway one with maple board

That's what I was thinking two cause I wanted a maple. The standard I played was lake placid blue with maple. Up against my rosewood HWY1 and the standard had nothing on it. The necks are definitely different and the body doesn't feel as sturdy as a HWY1. I wanted a maple too but now after playing it to get a maple I'm gonna go American Standard or Geddy Lee.

I have a 2009 MIM with a maple fretboard and a Geddy also. The MIM to me sounds and feels better(my opinion only). The maple neck on the MIM feels better. I have an American Standard Precision w/ a maple fretboard too.
1. American Precision
2. MIM Jazz
3. Geddy
That's my ratings for my maples. As stated before, my opinion only.
