The TF bass is fairly versatile. If I use the P pickup only with the tone down, I can make it sound a lot like a traditional P bass. If I use the J pickup only with the tone up, it sounds very much like a fretless Jazz bass. It also sounds great with both pickups as well.

To me, I find the P bass neck to be a little wider and easier to play, so this was a plus for me, but this would not necessarily be the case for everyone - it's subjective. I also really like the nitro finish. Overall, it's sort of like a bass from the 1970s, but new.

The only real downside with the TF bass is that it is still somewhat expensive. It is also not widely available, so I had to buy one (and wait a little while) before I could try one.

i understand what you say about the neck width, i read about it in the internet.

at the moment, i am looking for budgets to get a 5 string fender jazz bass unlined fretless here in portugal.

the next days will be decisive also because i expect to talk with my buddy about his bass..

if this fails, i will turn myself to fender and your suggestion will be taken into account.
