Hi!
I bought brand new Fender Victor Bailey 5-string jazz bass for 1700$ and I was hoping to get fully working bass for that money, BUT I didn't. There is hum and grounding noise when I touch controllers, strings, pickups, tuners ect. There is some problem with grounding, I believe so.
Here is my my problem more detailed:
When I'm holding the strings - no hum or noise ( even if I touch controllers ect.)
Whan I'm not holding the strings - it hums every time I touch anything ( strings, controllers, bridge, tuners ect.) and have some little background noise.
SO WHAT COULD CAUSE HUM IF IT HAPPENS JUST WHEN I DON"T HOLD THE STRINGS?

Thanks

P.S.
Yes, yes, yes I tried to find in my country fender service center, BUT there is no one here, so I'm not going to send it to US, because it would cost me 400$.

Hi!
I also bought a brand new Fender VB 5. I have the same problem. The bass has a great sound, but because of that hum and noise it is useless on stage...I`m very disappointed...I thought that I bought one of the best basses on the market....I`m not shure of that anymore.... :x . Everyone says that "its a Fender - you bought this!!!" but I don`t believe it! How can I solve this problem?

Thanks

Hi!
I really like my VB5 looks, it's grain is very smooth compared to others, so I didn't want to swap the bass.
I got shielded it with two materials - copper foil and carbon/copper spray. It's still humming. Three technicians tested the circuit, and there wasn't any problem on wiring. There was some problem in preamp board. So there is no way to fix that so simple.
I'm going to buy Noll preamp, to replace Fenders original.

Here is tip for Fender:
If you don't have a clue how to make bass preamp, sell basses without them, and lower the price for it's value. Now I need to take this rubbish preamp out, but I won't be able to sell it... (Who needs broken Fender preamp).

I thought as well as you, that I've bought one of the top Fender line basses, and actually one of the jazz bass type greats, but I was wrong. Built quality is good, but it's not the bass that I could rely on.

I also purchased VB Jazz Bass 5 and have a noise problem I paid $1499.00 +Tax and feel that we should not have these kind of problem. with this amount of money you should not have problems. Fender should be doing something instead they say they have not heard of such problems come on give me a break do something for us.
