Has anyone installed the HMV Bridge on their American Standard Jazz? If so, was there a significant increase in sustain and improved tone?
I'm new on the forum, so any feedback would be appreciated..

The HMV bridge comes standard for am. standard basses 2008 and beyond. I have one of those basses, and the bridge is fantastic. It has far more mass than a stock bridge, and has a similar effect on sustain and clarity as a badass bridge. The other plus about the bridge is that it looks damn cool. I never thought the badasses looked right on fenders, but this thing just blends into the aesthetics.

As of a few months ago Fender started selling these bridges as aftermarket replacements, but they're kind of expensive. You can find one here.

I guess I was curious if anyone had upgraded their bass and if so, was there a noticable difference in the tone and sustain. I'm sure I'll probably buy one anyway. I only paid $700 for this jewel...Never been played, still had the plastic coating on the pickguard.
I don't mind the expense, the HMV is cheaper than most other premium HM bridges. From what I've read, the BADASS III doesn't allow really low action...That is a deal breaker for me, I like it low.
Post a closeup of your bridge if you don't mind.
Thanks for the input..

Well if you love low action, the HMV is perfect for you. I've never played a bass that has as low an action as mine (with almost no fretbuzz mind you, though that's more a mark of the Am. St. neck).

In terms of effect on tone, it would be very similar to those who replace their bridges with badasses. More sustain, more punch, more hi-end. It wouldn't be identical to the badass, but it's the same idea.

And seriously, they just look way better than the badass bridges.

Interestingly enough, the Fender HMV is actually cheaper than the BAII
