Hi,

I just bought this MIM Jazz bass used. The guy was claiming the pickups were replaced with MIA Jazz pickups. Looking at them I knew they are not MIA Jazz pickups cause you can't see any magnet polls (not sure if that right) on them like you usually would on a Standard Jazz bass.

I`ve searched Fender's website trying to find these pickups but I can't. I know If seen them somewhere before though....

Anybody have an idea what these are? Or are these just covers?

Thanks[/img]

You have an active MIM Jazz bass by the look of the switch and the side mounted jack. I don't know what those pickups are but the are obviously some active pickups that Fender used in the 90's.

They are not Lace Sensors AFAIK.

How does the bass sound?

Actually they are not active pickups. I opened up the pickguard and no batery to be found. I think whoever swaped the pickups also added that switch in. The switch changes the tone of the bridge pickup only...little weird actually..

I don't know what you have there. Passive Pickups with little siver Fender logos silkscreened onto them.

Sombody must know about them. I can't help you.

That is a photo of a 1993/1994 Fender P-Bass Lyte with a very similar looking logo pickup in the J-position. The logo looks gold, not silver though.

This P-Bass Lyte was made for Fender Japan at the Fuji-Gen plant. While the silk screened logo on the P-Bass Lyte appears gold it calls the origin of your pups even further into question as the design is identical otherwise. I'm still keeping my eyes open for the exact pickup that you have but as of now I suspect the pups you have are very likely MIJ.
