Hello.
I recently bought the bass guitar: Fender deluxe jazz bass with active electronics, made in mexico.

I can't establish the year of production this instrument.

The serial number is: MN8128696

Could somebody help me with it? I would be grateful very much.
Thanks in advance for it.

Your guitar was made at the
Ensenada Plant (Fender), Mexico
in the Year(s): 1998 - 1999

If you ever need to date another fender guitar/bass, there is a facility on this website to do it as well. The www.guitardateproject.org information is much more detailed though.

Yeah, I was just pointing out that there are the resources on this site to find the date too, but ultimately saying that the link you posted (which is also the one I use for guitar/bass dating) gives more information.

Thanks for help. But the guitar dater is reading the serial number according to rules in link below:
http://www.fender.com/support/mexican_instruments.php

My problem is that my serial number is made up of MN8+6 digits. But all sources give form: MN8+5 digits.

Are you sure that there my serial number is correct and my guitar is made in 98-99'?

Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately Fender can sometimes be a little confusing in their serial numbers - my bass's serial could date the guitar from 1990 or 1999!

A good guess would be that yours is a '99.
