I own a MIM jazz V bass(active) that have 5 pole pcs. per pickup. Can someone tell me whether these pickups are considered to be junk or not? Cuz Fender did an "upgrade" I think the year after my guitar is dated. Is double poled considered to be better than single pole.

I may be scolded for this, but having an MIM of my own, I should say nothing Fender puts in a guitar is junk. That said tho, you can't go wrong with a good set of Basslines. I put an SJB-2 hot in the neck and, an SJB-1 vintage in the bridge. There are many other good pickup uptions for an upgrade too.

I understand that it's all subject to the listener but why did they change it, I guess i'm looking for someone who has done some sort of comparison. But you're wrong about the junk comment I made, case and point, when it comes to strats why can't fender make a decent pickup? Everybody usually opts for some boutique brand even the first noiseless was not manufactured by fender. So basically you're just buying a name and everyone forgets what company the founders of the company went to. So as I get off my soap box I guess I'll just continue to look at those pickup comparisons online.
