Hello everybody,

I'm french and this is my first post on the American Fender Forum.

I've got a Classic 60' JB (it's a passive one) and I wonder if there is a ground wire cable from a potentiometer to the bridge. I know that not all basses got this cable and I also have some parasite noises.

So, if you know something about this cable, I wouldn't be obliged to pick the bridge up to verify.

Thank you.

Ericcc, welcome!

I don't remember the exact model but it MAY be your's:

For a while, Fender was making basses where they didn't have a ground wire under the bridge which ran to the volume pot. Rather, they had a little copper strip which visibly ran from underneath the bridge pickup over the body and then under the bridge.

The easiest way to see if your bridge is in fact, grounded is to plug your bass into the amp and then turn the volume on the amp up. Take your hand off the strings and then touch the strings with your hand again. If the hum decreases when you touch the strings with your hand, then you know your bridge is grounded. If it doesn't and you want to know what you can do about, just ask and I'll be glad to help.
