Hi
I've got a Jazz Bass Serial No.N545241 LP Blue (I think ) and I'd like to know which wood was used for the body .I suspect it's Ash because of the weight but who knows under the paint . Thanks

If you can't see the grain of the wood, then it's probably alder. Judging by the serial it is American, so it would either be ash or alder. If it was made in 95, or whereabouts, and it had a transparent finish, it might even be alder with an ash veneer. They didn't start using ash bodies much (again) until the later 90's.

Agreed, for most modern fender basses they use alder for solid colors and ash for translucent finishes.
