I just got a MIM Deluxe Jazz and when I was lookingit over I see a metal button on the back of the headstock that has 60 on it.

I am new to all the designations on the Jazz bass so could anyone help out here?

2006 was Fender's 60th anniversary. Many models from that year have that little button to designate it was made on their 60th anniversary year.

These "medallions" located on the back of the headstock went on all Fender regular production electric guitars and basses in 2006. This has led to sellers calling all of them as "60th Anniversary Models" when in fact the true "Anniversary Commemorative Models" will also have a commemorative engraved neckplate, a headstock ribbon with crystal stone mounted in the ribbon and a special case for the American versions. The MIM versions will have the commemorative engraved neckplate and a special gigbag for the MIM Standard. The 60th Anniversary models were not a limited series like the 50th Anniversary series in 1996. The 1996 commemoratives sold out very quickly since there were fewer of them.

During the 60th Anniversary year Fender just made all they could sell and did not limit them to 250, 500 or 1,000 of each model as they did ten years previous in 1996.
