Hey there all. There's this jazz bass in the music store. It looks pretty sweet. It costs $2000NZ and it's made in Mexico. Is it worth buying?
Thanx,
Gazzy

The MIM Jazz Basses are decent (I have one).

I about choked when I did the conversion from NZD (2000.00) to USD (1207.58). I imagine lots of extra taxes and such are added though.
Go play it, and if you like and can afford it, then get it.

Gazzy - I also have one and it is a great addition to the basses that I have here. Just an FYI - The price that you quoted is a bit on the high side even for N.Z. I suppose that the laws of supply and demand are at work, but the USED MIM J-Basses that I have seen in Fender® dealer showrooms regionally in the US, from 10 to 20 years old, are averaging $400.00 to $600.00 USD in excellent condition. However, if it suits your needs, is not trashed or excessively modified and sounds good to you after testing, it's your call. Good luck...

By all means. I have a MIM Precision that is great, lots of nice ones out there. Play it and decide if it's the right one for you.

Buddy, I think is better if you just buy it trough the Internet, I mean I think you can buy it here and I bet there are services on NZ that can shipped to you. Try to research....

Oh, by the way it is a decent bass, just set it on as you want to... and rock on.....

Not sure if this helps, but I have a Mexican Jazz and I love it. I bought mine brand new a month ago and I got it for $450 (in the US). Not sure what they typically go for there, but they go for $660 new right now.

I just did some checking with some friends of mine and 2000 NZD is a damn good price. I was told that prices in some countries can be as much as 3X US prices because of taxes and fees.
