What do you guys think about using the BEAD strings from a five string set on a standard four string bass? I want to have that thicker sound without giving up my Jazz that's beat up just right.

I already use them. They're not enough.

My band is trying to tune down at least a step and a half for our current singer's voice. My heavy gauges are great for a step down, but they're a little too loose for my liking past that. It might just be easier to have the singer learn falsetto for us.

Tune down a step and a half? Are you kidding?
Why don't you guys just learn to play in different keys?

It's worth it.
