Hi everyone,

I have recently acquired a 1992 Jazz Bass Plus, also known as the Boner bass because of the extra fret. It has a semi-working input and I would like to replace it. Is there a place where I can order parts for this? I also need new control knobs, as I am missing 2 of the 3. Does Fender sell parts directly?

You might try taking it to your local Fender dealer and having them order the parts for you. Fender doesn't sell too much directly to the public, but if you go to Allparts.com they are an official Fender Parts dealer. If the parts are in production, they can probably get them for you even if they aren't listed on the website. Post some pictures of the bass if you get the chance, I'd like to see it!

I always thought that those early 90's Jazz basses were called " Boner basses" because the top horn looks like a boner! LOL

The extended fingerboard and changed body shape resulted in this less that flattereing name, but they are probably great basses. I don't know, I don't have one.

Yes extra fret. Yes "boner" is the nickname for the extended upper horn.
These are highly collectible because they were so limited.

Genuine Fender knobs and a new Switchcraft jack may also be obtained from Bass Parts Resource in addition to Allparts. It may be possible to clean the original jack with spray contact cleaner and perhaps bend the locking tip contact just a hair to make it more reliable. I might try that first. The Switchcraft jacks are Fender's OEM jacks. Go to the link in my signature below, once there click REPLACEMENT/UPGRADE BASS PARTS and then on the links for Bass Parts Resource and Allparts.

I recently ordered a set of Jazz Bass knobs from Bass Parts Resource for a project and they arrived sealed in a Fender logoed retail rack bag. The real deal!

I'm not sure what brand jacks Allparts has because they don't identify them. They also don't have jacks on the Original Fender Electronics page. I know that Bass Parts Resource has Switchcraft jacks for sure. I've bought three of them there to upgrade import basses.

Since making my previous post I needed a barrel/panel type jack for an Ibanez bass. I bought an Allparts packaged jack at Music Mart in Albemarle, NC and that jack was a Switchcraft. So at least the panel/barrel jacks you get at Allparts are Switchcraft. Probably the others too.
