Ok...
I recently acquired a Jazz Bass which i accepted as payment to a debt! Not bad, I figured considering the Debt was $200...
After getting it home and having a real close look I realized that there were some things I had foolishly overlooked when looking at it the first time and need some help. The first thing I noticed was that there were no "Made In" markings or serial numbers anywhere. The headstock only said Fender Jazz Bass and had the trademark numbers. In a panic I immediately removed the Neck to examine it... sure enough it is made by an Aftermarket fender dealer (MightyMite) with the fender jazz bass logo on it. Which someone could easily have just replaced Rosewood for Maple. (The model I believe is the classic '60's which to my knowledge only comes with rosewood) However the real issue is that there are no markings at all on the body that indicate the Authenticity (or lack there of) of it. The sound is good and the overall feel of the Bass is pretty good so I am happy with it either way (as payment to the debt anyway) but is there any way to find out if the body is authentic or not? I can attempt to add pics if necassary! The only Fender markings were on the Head and Bridge cover!

Any help would be appreciated!

Ok...I'm NO EPXERT but...I would bet my own Jazz that if you were to post some pics of the neck pocket, the "guts" under the knobs, and the back of the pickups, some really smart guys are going to SWOOP in and baffle you with enough information to knock you over! I'm serious! Be prepared to DUCK! (and I don't maen Dunn) Good luck!
