A few weeks ago I did some checks of the local music stores and the usual internet sites (Musician's Friend, zzZounds, etc) and saw the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass priced in and around $899. I walked into our local music store this weekend and found the price to be $1,219. I came home and checked the internet and found all the sites had them listed over $1,200. I also read one of the websites which had the bass listed as "Limited Edition".

Does anyone know what's going on and/or how Fender can justify a 25% price increase from just a few weeks ago???

I would appreciate any information.

Fender increased prices on all their guitars a few weeks ago and forced their retailers to increase prices on old stock too.

depends on the store. i live up in ontario canada, bought mine for 1125 cdn. Bought in in jan 2009, when i peeled back the price tag there was another underneath from before new year for 1099.
You get what you pay for.

if you check the on line price list, it retails for over 1500 (US)

for the sound it makes, anything under the list is good.

I own a CIJ Japanese Geddy Lee LIMITED EDITION model. AT the back stated LIMITED EDITION, bought it when it first came out couple years ago

And why is it I found it being sold everywhere around the world ? I thought its LIMITED EDITION?

IS mine the same as the current ones?

I know all 025 made in Japan, or crafted

Pls advice and Thank you so much

Got the reply, the demand is huge so they decided to extend.

I only use Japanese or US made Fender Basses or Fender Guitars

You can still get some New Ones on Ebay below the $1219.00, but I'd expect not for long as some are now $1219.00 there too.

I bought a "B" Geddy on Ebay for $690.00. Came in and the set up was poor. I am mechanical so I set up the bass and put new Chromes on and man does it sound nice. I took a chance. This turned out OK. I own three other Fenders Am. 5-string jazz; Am. P Bass 4 String; and a MIM Fretless 4- string.
