ive been considering trying out flatwound strings on my standard fender jazz bass, and i was wondering what people around here thought of them? also, do flatwounds last longer than roundwounds?
(since they have no grooves where skin can get trapped making the strings dead)

anyway, just tell me what u guys think! :D

I love Flats, but I also only play P-basses. Yes, flats will last a long time.
Here's some info for you to fry your brain with.

I tried flats on my jazz and I just didn't care for them on it....I put them on my Mexican P-Bass instead, and put rounds back on my Jazz.

how ya doing nacho conde, I like the flats because I don't hear my fingers squeak while playing, no noisy over tones just that clean bass sound. but it's not very good for slapping if you are looking for that modern bright and punchy percussive tone :)

a video using fender stainless flatwound strings:

hey markbass, im doing all right! :D
i was simply considering flats because i love the tone flea gets out of them on his 61 jazz bass, and i wanted to try out the sound, i might buy some just to try them out!

i love the sound u get from them on that video! i mostly play fingerstyle funk like that, so i guess they would be quite good. (by the way, im the guy called bassistnumber2587 whoc ommented on yor vid :p)

i really love your bass, its so cool! did u get it reliced or is it just old?

I have Thomastik-Infeld jazz flats on almost all my Fender basses now, both Jazz and Precisions. Try them. They're expensive but one set will last you years so you more than get your money's worth.
