Have just bought a brand new MIM 1970s Classic Jazz (the one with the block inlays on the rosewood neck).
Very happy with it EXCEPT the only volume control that appears to work is the one for the neck pickup; the bridge pickup volumne does next to little. If i turn the neck pickup volume all the way off, there is virtually no sound from the bass, even with the bridge pickup volume on "full".
Intuitively i know this is not how it is supposed to be but, given that i am new to the world of the Jazz, i just want to run it by you guys first to make sure i am not missing something obvious.
If it is a faulty bridge pickup or volume control i guess i will have to send the bass back to where i bought it, and get it repaired under the two year warranty...
Thanks in advance. Sorry if the question is idiotic to you experienced Jazz players!

Personally I would have it fixed under the warranty. You should be able to take it to your closest Authorized Fender Tech.

You see ,it's these types of things that still plagues Fender to this day,and being that Fender has raised the prices to an exhorbant rates, then this type of lack of paying attention to detail is and should be unacceptable.
If Fender is set on charging $2000.00 to almost $5000.00 grand for a bass then the workmanship needs to be ALOT better than what it is now.
