Check this out! I found this strap locks where you don't need to change screws, it's really cheap and it'll do the job.

You don't have to have strap locks on your bass if you are a careful player and are not doing somersaults across the stage, a bass strap is going to stay conneccted to a Fender bass even though it may unbutton itself if the strap hole is too large. With a new strap you won't have problem if you pay attention to atttaching your strap.

I have several basses with and with out straplocks. The Schallers are the easiest to transfer to another strap and they do a good job. The only problem with strap locks is that you can get over confident and actually have the straplock undo itself if you are not carefiul in securing it to the strap!

Another problem with a strap lock is that your a putting a piece of metal on the end of your strap that can act like a pendulum and put dings in your guitar or bass body. No fun if you are not into the relic look!

i think that for my style i do need strap locks, on stage i tend to behave more like flea, and like victor wooten, so i think for me they are a difinate must-have! i allready got the dunlop ones, which i really like, and they are working perfectly, they were really easy to install, and they are working great so far!
