I agree with Chet. I have experience with them and none with Dunlop so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I think i like the more simple ones like the schaller or the dunlop.

I would put the earnie ball ones if i had a musicman stingray :D but i wouldnt like it on my fender.

Has anyone had any experience with the dunlop ones? i would like to hear about them :)

I have used the Jim Dunlop Straplok® for many years and they are bullet proof. Positive locking clasps that never fail and a quick release button that is recessed in the active housing to prevent accidental disengagement.

Highly recommended !!

ive finally decided to buy the Jim Dunlop ones, i dont like how the schaller ones stick out a lot, because it might damage my gig bad, and my bass is usually leaned ahaginst stuff, and these would get in the way.

thanks to everyone for the advice!! :D

I use both with no issues. They both do exactly what they were designed to do.

yep, schaller is a good choice. if you are not shure, rubber rings from bow lock bottles are a good alternative. put the strap on and then the ring.

cheers :D

I'm thinking of putting strap lock on my new Am Std P-Bass and I haven't really had a strap lock on my guitars before.

I kinda like the way the strap grips onto the body when you don't have strap locks and I'm afraid to cause damage on the body when I screw it with the new screws. I've heard some people needed to put glue in order to fill the damaged wood when the screw in the new locks.

I'm wondering how important or useful strap locks are? I'm debating wheter I should get one.

Dude - They're absolutely necessary if you don't want to "mess up your hair" while switching basses after a set... LOL...

Seriously, though, they are a bit more secure than a strap slot pressed over a standard strap button. Cheap damage insurance.
