Ok, basically, Ive been playing bass for 3 years and i like the sound of the fretless jazz a lot.
I have 2 questions:

1. Is fretless difficult to play?

2. Can you play slap on fretless?

Im new to the whole bass finding and very inexperience with knowledge of fretless basses!!

Cheers!

Yes. You have to be spot on with your intontation and press harder to produce a note. Without fret markers this is very hard and takes a lot of practice.

It's worth it though.

No. Well...you can slap one - upright players have been slapping for eons but I'm guessing you mean slap'n'pop a la Larry Graham and co. The slap and pop technique relies on the sound from the strings hitting the metal frets.

I too am interested in making/gettting a fretless. I plan to defret an old bass soon and have some fun :)

If you have the money definitely get or make a fretless J bass. I have the Jaco signature version(not the custom shop one) and its great and for num nuts like me it has the fret lines which help out for intonation/sound. I tried the Tony Franklin fretless and its great even without the fretlines, just has the dot markers on the side, but its pricey ~$1500.00.

My main fretless for fooling around with though is a franken fender bass, Japanese 62 reissue p bass body and pick ups with an aftermarket all parts lined fretless with 21 dot markers ebony fingerboard neck Jazz widht 1.5 inch. I have flatwounds on this and can make it sound like a groovy upright double bass. I play it thru a Mesa 400+ or Mesa M pulse 600 head and a hartke 410XL cab(looking to upgrade the cabs to an Epifani UL 4x10 or Markbass when I get some cash)

I can say that playing on fretless is more difficult than regular jazz or precision bass...

I tried to play slap on fretless but it didn't went well :D

yeah slap and pop are very hard to do since you don't have frets which gives the main sound/brightness needed to slap and pop. I really like sliding on a fretless though
