hello to all...i am new at this whole guitar subculture. i am very excited about it these are beautiful instruments. i just brought my bass today after bringing back an esp bass on monday. can someone please tell me why my strings rattle so much on the damn bass brand new out of the box? it sounds sloppy compared to some of the other basses i played in the store. is it me? or have you professionals experienced the same issue. i am almost ready to bring it back and get something else but the fender name and legacy holds so much weight. can someone please give me some clarity or a solution to this issue. OH! one other thing i think i want some better pick up's than the stock noiseless that come with it. can i do that? any suggestions on how to modify these monsters without destroying them? :?

You need a set up. A good tech can make that bass play and sound awesome. I had mine nearly a year before I took it in for a set up, and now i wonder why I waited so long. You can do it yourself, but it can get frustrating working by trial and error. A complete set up cost me $60 and it was worth every penny. After my set up which included adjusting my pick height, I don't think that I really need to swap out the pick ups. They sound great now.

Might be a good idea to look at the Fender ® website "dealer locator" help page and see who is factory authorized in your area to do Fender ® repairs. They will have gone through the factory training required for the repair station franchise and will be able to do your setup the proper way.
