I own a 1993 MIM Jazz, at least I think it's a 1993.

Reason for this being that it has an unusual serial number on the headstock. On the Fender site in the "Product Dating" section, all Mexican instruments are said to have serials like, for example, MN1555555 (MN1 + 5 digits). Meanwhile, mine has MN3 (which would mean a 1993-1994 Mex bass) 124217, so that's MN3 + 6 digits.

Meanwhile, today I disassembled the bass, and found a couple of dates on the body and the heel of the neck.

In the space where the heel of the neck contacts the body, there's the following date: "AUG 15 1991", followed by the word "BASS". Under that there's also another date, this time "SEP 18" and the year is unintelligible, although it looks like "1988" (very, very unlikely) or "1998". Why two dates? Could the second one (SEP 18 ) be when the bass was put together? If yes, then this is weird, but read on.

The heel of the neck has a sticker, a piece of metal that I thought was the truss rod adjustment, but I can't figure out how can you adjust the rod with a flat metal circle, but then again I didn't want to tear the sticker off to reveal the whole thing. The heel has a date of "JAN 25 1995". So basically, the date on the heel contradicts what's on the headstock. Not only is the headstock serial different from the site and other MIM guitars I've seen, also it states that it's a 1993-1994 model, while the heel of the neck says 1995.

I've bought the guitar 4 months ago from a local Calgary musician. He said that other than change the strings, he never did any other repairs/mods, so no neck/body replacement. The cracks the woodwork made when I was taking it apart indicated that no-one messed with it for years, because I was still a nice, tight fit.

Any comments/opinions?
