Can anyone give me a personal review (opinion) on the Reggie Hamilton Standard with the Hipshot Drop D Tuner. Is it American or Mexican made?

well.... all I have to say is that I've done two rehearsals with one (it's MIM) and this bass single handedly has got me back on board with Fender basses.

the one I tried looked as though it should not have played/sounded good at all, the E saddle was all cock-eyed, the A string came right off the nut to the tuner post without much of any break angle over the nut.... and in my mind it was "yay, a 'Fender' active preamp, oh joy... )

but I totally dig Reggie and hadn't realized that they were offering an non-Custom Shop version so I did want to try it out.

ANYWHO... plugged it in and OMGosh.... the thing was a dream. A narrow neck but some girth to it, for me it feels as though a nice cross between a P and J neck.

so ya, short story even longer, I love the thing and the only reason I'm on the fence at this particular moment is due to the release of the Steve Bailey 6 string

8)

all in all, the Reggie Hamilton Standard for me is a great bass and well worth the money.
