Comparing the Bassman 210/250 combo and the Ampeg BA 300 and the Ampeg BA 210, what are your thoughts/opinions?

I have no extensive experience with either. I am a fan of Ampeg combo amps though. For home use, I have a BA115. I enjoy the tones I can get out of it. I have had both a Fender Rumble 60 and 100, which I wasn't too fond of. My jamming rig is an Ampeg B2RE into a B410he, which is kept at my drummers house. It does what I need it to do, but I am not completely happy with it. The Ampeg heads are ugly IMO.

I've played through both, and prefer my '69 Bassman 100 head/cabinet.

Ampegs just don't have it when it comes to sound. Ampeg seems to be resting on some old opinions of it.

On a somewhat similar note, McCartney was using a pair of stereo Mesa Boogie amps specially made for him during his '90s concerts. But had a couple of his old Voxs as backups. Now he takes his Vox again with him on his recent tours.

Proving the traditional sounds seem to come back into favor.

I have had the same Ampeg B2 Combo since 94. I look to upgrade this year, but I will try Ampegs First. The Quality of the one I have owned for darn near 15 years is Out-Standing.

The Voxes, which are not old, are for his guitar not bass.

I've played through Peavey, Fender, Mesa, and Ampeg and IMHO there is nothing out there that can match the sound and power of an Ampeg. You just can't beat one thousand watts through an 8 -10 cab. There's a reason why 95% of all the bass players you see on stage are playing through an Ampeg. If you get one, go for an older one when they were still made by St. Louis Music in USA. The new ones are made by Loud Technologies in Viet Nam, and I don't believe they have the balls that the MIA ones do.

I play thru an Ampeg 810AV with an Ampeg SVT4-Pro. The sound that comes outtta that thing is ASTOUNDING!!!! It will blow you away. Go directly to the nearest guitar center and demo one asap!!

A few months ago, I was at a Beatlemania show taking some pics, and the bass player was not only right handed, but also used an Ampeg. The sound was horrible.

Nothing but mud for days. He might as well had not been playing for all the good it did him.

You should come to one of our shows, I'm left-handed and have a good bass tone thru amp modelling using a Roland DB700 dressed up to look like a Vox. I do wish Vox would make a decent bass amp.

Hmm, sounds like a tempting invite. I always enjoy good Beatles, and your Vox looks pretty good. Amongst my collection of Voxes is an Essex bass amp. I used to use it, but it became too noisy. I wish they'd make a new bass amp too.

Can you PM me?

I've used Ampeg several times, atlhough I don't own one and I know how popular it is, because of it's good solid sound and power. It's also easy to use, you can't get a bad sound out of it.

I do own a Bassman 150 and have used the Bassman TB 600. I'm very impressed with Fender Bassman, the power and the tone is great. You can get a lot of different sound out if it, but it's not complicated.

My Bassman 150 is light and quite portable, 39 lbs, it's just what I need. It has a lot of features as well.

The price will blow you away, it's so much more affordable than Ampeg.

I love my BASSMAN!!!

I like the Ampeg tone stack.

AKA: what the B15 and bass & treble controls of the original SVT sound like.

Great tone, with its simple and very flexible design.

I used an old bassman tube amp with an Ampeg 2 X 15 bottom for quite a while. Good stuff...
