I just got a Fender Frank Bello Sig off eBay, and it looks like the strap pegs are straplock compatible. They don't look like the normal ones that come on Fender guitars / basses. I looked real close at the pictures on the Fender webpage, and it indeed does look like they are the original ones (meaning the eBay owner didn't swap the original ones out for straplocks).

Does anyone know if these will work with straplocks, and what brands they're compatible with (Schaller, Fender?). Before I run out and buy a set, I'd like to make sure they'll work on this bass.

Thanks!

The Fender straplocks are/were made by Schaller. I have Schallers/Fenders on all my basses, no problems whatsoever. However, I always use the original screw from the original strap button when putting the new straplock buttons on. The straplock screws are a smaller diameter than the originals.

I guess my question is whether the strap pegs that come standard on it are made for strap locks or not. I know I could switch them out for strap locks, but it looks like I don't need to switch them at all.

Does anyone know if the schaller straplocks will work on the standard pegs that come on the Bello sig?

In fact, I went and looked at the Enlarged pictures on the Fender webpage of the Bello sig and the American Standard P-bass, and you can clearly see that there are different types of strap pegs.

I'm almost positive now that the Bello has straplock pegs standard, but I really wanted to see if someone knew for sure that they were before I went out and ordered straplocks.

AFAIK all Fender stock strap buttons are the same. They will not accomodate strap locks.

Yeah, I thought that, too. But then this bass arrived today, and I swear it's setup standard for straplocks. And the pictures on the Fender products page seem to indicate this, too.

The Fender straplocks are $15. Buy them and be done with it.
