What don't you like about the current pickups? If something is lacking tonally, a different set of strings may help you find the sound you're searching for, at a sigificantly cheaper cost in both time and money.

That being said, I bought a used 60's Classic Jazz and thought the pickups sounded a little thin. I got a new, blemished set of Custom Shop 60's pickups on eBay for cheap and a $15 solder gun from Radio Shack. This mod added a lot of growl and low end oomph, and mellowed out the highs to just sound sweet! It's since replaced my California Precision Special as my #1.

theres nothing i dont like about the pickups i have. its just more versatility. i mean barry oakley did it. one moment he could have the classic jazz bass tone then another moment later he would use the guildstar humbucker he installed in his guitar for a much more fuller tone. it just makes your mids stand out a lot more. and if it were my strings it would be more of a need than a want. for me at least. lol nice buy though :D
