Hey!

I've been dreaming about one of those beautiful new jazz basses with figured wood tops and block inlays. Today I wanted to drool more over them, but to my surprise, they were gone. Were they a limited edition?

Well, I guess I'll have to look into the Miller signature then..

You mean one of these?

Great basses! They are the American Deluxe FMT/QMT series. Mine is a 2002 model which is about when they were first introduced. Other then Custom Shop stuff, I think these are the finest basses Fender made! I love mine!

You still see them pop up time to time on eBay. But I think people are hanging on them for the most part!

The next best thing would be a Jazz 24, which are nice basses. But those only have a very thin laminate for the top were the FMT/QMT basses had a good 1/8" thick piece of figured wood for the top.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. Beautiful bass. I guess I'll have to start digging the internet.

The 24 fret model doesn't really interest me, I've never heard a 24 fret instrument have such a fat slap sound as basses with shorter neck, probably due to the position where the string hits the last fret.

I feel like shooting myself since I sold my '78 jazz bass few years ago. It was perfect, not as good looking as that, but soundwise it was right on the money.
