Well after a bad experience with the Jazz 24, I figured I give it another shot. I wanted a nice quilt top Jazz fretless to go with my Fender Am Deluxe Jazz FMT. So I got on the phone with the folks over at Sweetwater and had them send me pics of the Jazz 24 basses they had. Well found a nice one.....ordered it. When I got it I plugged it in to see how it sounded (I think the first Jazz 24 had a lemon preamp). Well it souned great! So I boxed it back up and took it to my local guitar dude to rip the frets outs! Now that I have it back I am very pleased with it. And she is a looker! Here it is (on the right) next to my Am Deluxe Jazz FMT.

Glad it worked out for you. I remember you talking about that at the School of Bass. Hope all is well.

Hey Heath! How the heck are you??

Yea, I'm really pleased with the sound of this bass as a fretless. To bad Fender does not offer more fretless models. It would be awesome if the Jazz 24 also came as a fretless with a Ebony fretboard, kinda like the Lakland Skyline fretless.

Even more awesome would be a American Deluxe Jazz QMT fretless model!! I would buy one in a heart beat!

Love it,

Question for you though. Do you find that there is more that avereage hum from the active pickups. I notice on mine that it hums quite bad. Is this a grounding issue??

I do not have a hum problem on neither of my active jazz basses. In fact both are pretty darn quite. Hum and buzzing noises are in most cases a ground problem.
