Hi all I'd like to bye a fender jazz bass 1960 or 1970 in july 2009

Is the new american standard better than the 60's jazz bass ?

An actual 1960 Jazz bass would cost you more than $15K.
An actual 1970 Jazz bass would cost you more than $3K

A current American Standard Jazz bass will cost you $1K or less on sale and its probably a better bass than either of the historic instruments IMHO.
I have played all of the above and I can tell you from wxperience that its worth it to check out Fender's current crop of basses.
I love the new american standard's and I think they are a great value.
I would have one if I lost my 1973 Jazz bass.
