Hello I own a 2007 Geddy Lee jazz bass.
The plastic Pick-Guard gets static electricity when I'm Slapping and it builds up then makes loud pop noises from the amp. I cleaned all the contacts on my amp and bass. Then I found that is was Static Electricity. Is there anything I can do is there any wire wrap that is static proof?
:?: :?:

Qqstar: When you say "The plastic Pick-Guard gets static electricity when I'm Slapping and it builds up then makes loud pop noises from the amp" how does the static sound occur. Is it when you touch the body of the bass or the knobs perhaps? I think my friend is having a similar problem and we would like to find out if this is the same.

Dryer sheets? Really? WOW! Interesting!

I'd just ground the pickguard myself by applying self adhesive copper sheeting to the back of the guard and grounding that shielding to the control cavity copper shielding by overlapping the copper cavity shielding tape over the lip of the cavity so that it contacts the back of the pickguard and the control plate. In fact I do that on all my passive single coil basses. The down side is going to all that trouble doesn't makes your case smell all Downy fresh and Snuggly! Maybe the dryer sheets are BETTER! LOL

I've never heard of this problem, but the dryer sheet idea sounds like a good one.
