Alright guys. Change of plans. Why? Because I've grown too fond of my Olympic White MIM Jazz Bass.

Now, the "1966 LPB Bass" is put on hold. I will do it, just not in the nearest future, partially due to money constraints.

Basically, I have other, more important expenses right now. Other thing is, I've looked at my white Mexican Jazz Bass, and thought, "Damn... you look too beautiful to be butchered. I can't do it." One of the reasons is that the white finish is starting to turn yellow-ish like on vintage basses.

I will be on the lookout for another MIM JB (perhaps a trashed one, so I can bring it back to life as my project!).

So, right now, all I will do to my 1993 MiM is change the tuners, pot knobs, the neckplate, the bridge (maybe), the pickups (I'll get some new Fender passive pickups), the strings (to some Rotosound RS-66's) and - my new project for now - apply an Olympic White matching headstock.

So, here are my questions:

1) Between which years have matching headstock guitars been produced? Are they still being made?
2) I've seen a couple of original Fender basses with the big Kluson-style tuners, but, some of them had the "Fender" logo on them, some of them didn't. Which are more "correct"?

Unrelated to the project:
What style of the Fender Jazz Bass logo was used on basses built around 1985 in the US? Can someone post a picture? Is there a website or a book that is a guide to various variations of the Fender Logo used over time?

Thanks.

Can someone also tell me when did the brown stripes on the back of the neck appear?

Another one:

I've seen some Fender basses (MIA) that have the truss rod adjustment at the headstock (in a little hole that goes under the fretboard), while most basses throughout the the years have that big $@! screw at where the neck meets the body.

Can anybody give me specific details about US basses with the adjustment at the neck? Like when did this first appear? I am basically going to transform my MIM into a MIA and I need this detail so I know what to do, because my adjustment is at the headstock.

I know, but some basses don't have this strip.
